The Squantum Association is a private club founded in 1872, set on the bluffs above Narragansett Bay in East Providence, and takes around 160 guests. The water is on three sides and the lawn runs down towards it, so the light comes off the bay for the last hour of the day with nothing built between the lawn and the horizon. The clubhouse carries its age well — verandah, panelled rooms, and the kind of detail that photographs without needing dressing. There is a bridal suite in the building and a cabin on the property where the wedding party can get ready, which keeps the morning in one place rather than spread across hotels.
