The Graylyn Estate is a magnificent 1932 Norman Revival mansion on the grounds of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and operating as a conference center and inn. The estate's hand-carved stonework, copper turrets, cathedral-ceilinged great hall, and formal English gardens combine medieval European grandeur with the rolling elegance of the NC Piedmont. Ceremonies take place in the estate gardens, chapel, or outdoor lawn, while receptions unfold in the great hall or tented garden terrace for up to 300 guests. On-site guest accommodations in the manor house and carriage house allow the entire wedding party to stay together within the estate's walled grounds — creating a true destination experience without leaving Winston-Salem.

Sunset times are calculated for this venue's coordinates, shown in EDT for the 15th of each month in 2026. Golden hour is the 60 minutes before sunset. The ceremony start is my rule of thumb — about 2 hours before sunset, so a short ceremony and family photos still leave the two of you in golden light. Adjust it to your own timeline. Average temperatures and rainfall are NOAA 1991–2020 normals from WINSTON SALEM RYNLDS AP, 4.3 miles away.
