Pittsburgh Botanic Garden

Oakdale, PA

Photographed here byRob Craven

Pittsburgh Botanic Garden covers several hundred acres of reclaimed woodland west of the city, and the scale is the point — woodland paths, ponds and restored meadow give a long portrait walk without ever leaving the property. The Davidson Events Center holds 130 theatre-style, 100 seated at tables, or 220 under a rented tent; the Welcome Center takes 150 across its full facility. Couples provide their own alcohol with proof of special event insurance, and on-site security is included when alcohol is served. Catering, tents and linens come from an approved vendor list. The Events Center is climate-controlled, which is the real rain plan, and the tree cover keeps midday sun off a ceremony.

Sunset times are calculated for this venue's coordinates, shown in EDT for the 15th of each month in 2026. Golden hour is the 60 minutes before sunset. The ceremony start is my rule of thumb — about 2 hours before sunset, so a short ceremony and family photos still leave the two of you in golden light. Adjust it to your own timeline. Average temperatures and rainfall are NOAA 1991–2020 normals from PITTSBURGH INTL AP, 5.4 miles away.
